The Trades Awards go Digital

Back in March, when the lockdown measures were first announced, we moved the Trades Awards ceremony from June to October, in the hope that we would be able to celebrate in our usual style by then. As the weeks have passed, it has become clear to us that it would be unlikely and inappropriate to attempt to bring 400 people together in this way.

However, we feel that it is more important than ever to celebrate our construction heroes this year, especially considering some of the incredible efforts of individuals, teams, and businesses during lockdown. Luckily for us, everyone involved with the Trades Awards agreed, so we have spent weeks and months looking for a way of bringing the industry together, whilst staying apart.

As a result, the Trades Awards will be taking place online on Friday 9th October, and whilst the ceremony might look a little different to previous years, we believe it will be our biggest and best celebration yet. Not only have we had the highest number of applications to date, but this year there is no limit on how many people can attend, and no restrictions on where people can tune in from. For the first year ever, the Trades Awards might just go global, and your tech-savvy Granny can tune in too!

We are still working on the plans, but for now we can tell you that the evening will include:

  • Red carpet interviews to get the evening going
  • A digital drinks reception
  • Announcement of each of the 14 worthy winners
  • Fabulous prizes for the best dressed guests
  • Post awards digital DJ and disco
  • Multiple chances to win, with all money going to our charity partner CLAN

And the Trades Awards ceremony is not our only event to be taking place virtually this year. Build It, our Construction and Property conference will also be taking place across a series of dates in November, and there are more exciting announcements on our other events to follow, so watch this space!
