An event-full 6 months of bringing people together digitally.

Wow! Where did the first half of 2021 go? Our Events Team have been busy delivering a wide range of events over the last 6 months – finding new and exciting ways of bringing people together digitally. Here’s a quick run down of what they’ve been up to:

The European Artificial Lift Seminar online conference was held over five days with each day containing 2.5 hours of high quality and insightful presentations, Techbytes and Q&A sessions focused on Artificial Intelligence. With relatively little written and said about AI when it comes to artificial lift, the conference explored why this is, what the barriers are, and heard about some examples of where and how AI was making a difference.

This conference built on the success and interest of the previous conference in 2019, which looked at alternatives to welding, making the natural progression in 2021 to consider how best to assure the integrity of joints of all types. The format of this event gave attendees the opportunity to ask questions, network and to build upon their knowledge of the sector.

We supported the Intervention & Coiled Tubing Association (European Chapter) with a 3-day virtual event, which consisted of leading industry keynote speakers, case histories presented by operators and major service companies, interactive technical sessions, virtual networking and an opportunity to find out the more information on what’s happening in the industry.

This was a live stream event hosted by the Chief Executive and Chairman of aspc from our socially distanced studio, while three property experts joined in remotely for a Q&A with a live audience of attendees from across the North East.

We supported a major energy operator in delivering a programme of events and activities to appeal to a wide cross section of the organisation’s staff and contractors, as well as their families. These digital events included:

  • An evening with Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock
  • Team Social & Quiz Night with Comedian Mark Watson
  • An evening of entertainment with the ‘Forensic Mind Reader’ Colin Cloud and musical improv genius Adandonman
  • An evening with writer and strategist Dr Gabrielle Walker for World Environment Day

This evening with OGTC was designed to connect and celebrate women in the energy industry; showcasing how everyone can work together to combat gender bias and discrimination whilst accelerating gender equality within the industry. Streamed live From our M&G TV x Stream Television studio, the event brought together six of the industry's top female leaders to share their experiences, chat about challenges they have faced and most importantly, how they overcame them.

Now in its 10th year, SPE’s Well Decommissioning conference brought together specialists in the areas of production optimisation, well integrity and those focused on abandonment operations from major operators, service companies and regulators.

Flexibility is the key to our M&G TV x Stream Television studio. This is evidenced by Robin Macpherson, Head of Robert Gordon's College, who popped in to record a short talking heads launch video for RGC Online - a virtual school taught by RGC teachers that prepares students for pathways into the world of technology.

The Seismic 2021 conference covered the entire geophysical spectrum, from exploration, appraisal, development and production, through to abandonment and repurposing for CCS - the full lifecycle potential of the asset. It also focused on how seismic supports both the UK's MER strategy and its Net Zero ambitions, as well how seismic can sustainably support the increasing development of renewables into the energy mix. The conference was not only relevant to Geoscientists and Geophysicists, but also to those in non-Geo-related roles, such as Petroleum Engineers and Senior Decision makers in Operators and Service companies.

We had a great time working with the team from Subsea UK on their Subsea Live! Event. From our M&G TV x Stream Television studio, we welcomed real life, socially distanced hosts, along with online guests from a range of global destinations, from the USA and Asia all the way to Gairloch!

Hosted by Chris Harvey from STV, Mental Health Aberdeen launched their new #mhaonthemove fundraising campaign from our M&G TV x Stream Television studio.

We were delighted to support the inaugural Floating Energy Forum for our clients Archer Knight and Energy Maritime Associates. The Forum was a fantastic opportunity for Asset Managers, Operators, Service Providers and Technologists to engage and participate in discussions around key topics including; digitisation, asset life extension, redeployment opportunities and technologies that will influence the future offshore energy market.

DEVEX is the only technical conference of its size which is focused on the full E&P project cycle: from exploration, appraisal, development and production (early, mid and late life) through to decommissioning. The Conference provided excellent opportunities for petroleum and reservoir engineers, geoscientists, geophysicists and geologists to come together and share knowledge.

Build Your Future Aberdeen is an annual challenge for S2 pupils brought to the North East by Grampian Construction Training and is designed to inspire the next generation of construction professionals. We had an extended break between the virtual heats in December and the final in June and we were delighted to see that the teams hadn’t lost their enthusiasm for the challenge and were blown away by how well the students worked together to produce excellent work for each task.

As event organisers, we are driven by feedback. Here are some examples from recent digital events that we have run:
